Colorado Still Leads in Foreclosure!

The Denver Business Journal - September 13, 2006

Colorado led the nation in foreclosures in August, the sixth consecutive month the state has received the top ranking by RealtyTrac Inc.

The California company's August 2006 U.S. Foreclosure Market Report showed the state had 6,079 properties in some stage of foreclosure in August, a 60 percent spike from the month before and more than twice the number reported in August 2005.

Colorado had one new foreclosure filing for every 330 households, or 3.2 times the national average of one filing for every 1,064 households.

Denver's foreclosure rate ranked among the top five metro areas, with 4,506 properties entering some stage of foreclosure -- one new foreclosure filing for every 196 households.

Greeley posted the highest foreclosure rate of the 252 largest metro areas, with one new foreclosure filing for every 136 households, more than seven times the national average.

RealtyTrac operates an online marketplace for foreclosed properties.
